BLOG 8 Groovy Blogs you Should follow! Most of my blogging over the last two years has been writing stuff for company blogs. This buys me hair gel, nappies and recharges my oyster card but, er, um, well it’s very boring, it seems people who pay you to do this have no clue how to really cause trouble and make a ruckus. Since the end of last year I focused on my own writing and I am a better person for it. The most rewarding bit is the stuff money can never ever ever buy like serendipity, learning and conversations both on and off lin
Audio Hells Teeth! I should have told you this sooner... One of the best-kept secrets to being connected is co-working, the next best-kept secret is your tribe. I have found getting out of your "space" to co-work is brilliant for both your productivity and your soul. This is whether you work for a big shiny corporate or are a freelancer like me. In their respective books Mitch Joel and Lisa Gansky, who are way smarter than me talk about the “friction” and “collision” of ideas between people that end up being called things like “Kickstarter” “Ai
BLOG Sod meeting Seth! I just heard Doug from Velocity talking CRAP at #b2bhuddle Sod meeting Seth! I just heard Doug from Velocity talking CRAP at #b2bhuddle, a photo by Bernie J Mitchell on Flickr. No matter how many times you say the word "crap" Doug's take on stuff certainly is not. In fact it is very realistic and, dare I say inspirational!
BLOG On the way to San Francisco That was a sharp turn around. Arrived back from Greece - showered, ate, slept and was out the door (early) to go back to Heathrow and zoom to Mesh 2013 in the USA. Not my doing but the slick organisation of "Supercool wife". My head was melting before I went on holiday and now I am ready to rumble again. It is quite amazing how much fun it is to (nearly) unplug for a week and instead stare at the sea and sky. I am still pinching myself about where I am going. Not so much the amazing line up of
BLOG Why I am not quite as sharing economy as I could be.... So we arrive at Heathrow and there is no Piccadilly line. We then scramble for buses, trains, taxi's and push bikes. Amazingly hiring a car is cheaper than a taxi but the hassle at the other end is not worth it. We are now on the train to Ealing. Why did I not leap on one of the 50,000 gazillion sharing economy transport services? We had the same thought while away, I'd love access but don't know where to begin. We would have organised a Zip Car but they have yet to expand to my road, which by t
BLOG Flying with #babybernie I am now convinced that #babybernie is solar powered, so when we get to the sun his energy quota is off the scale. The best thing we do as a family is travel, taking him on a plane, up a mountain, eating new food and meeting new people is a never ending blast of fun. He is twice as exhausting to look after now with his delicious curiosity for every nook and cranny along the way. He also has no sense of fear when it comes to animals, climbing up rock faces or falling over. When #babybernie was
BLOG I just can't book a flight..... I have to come clean about travel. I need someone to book the flight, make sure the passport is together and that we are at the right gate. Maybe it is some undiscovered trait of my dyslexia or maybe I am just not paying attention. When travelling on my own I am paralysed by fear until sat in the seat of the train or plane in motion and no staff member has asked me to move on. I still don't really believe I'll get there until I am on the way home. Eight years ago my dear friend Clare booked the
BLOG You have to have a dog Until you have a solar powered child that chases cats, embraces dogs and has a sceptical relationship with donkeys you are not aware of how many of these creatures per a square metre there are in The Greek Islands. Also you not a real shop keeper if you don't have a dog or cat hanging around the place. There must be a large cage somewhere full of ugly dogs because the street is full of cute and shaggy looking dogs. A well groomed dog cruising the streets would kill the story, just as a well d
